Every time i THINK everything seems so much worse, everyone seems to be hanging on by just a mere thread of apathy, if they cared to look at anything truthfully, i think it would break most of them.people are weak, all of us need constantly, need food, water, sleep, affection, so on and on. we need comfort, so we live in whats in front of us, even who we call the wisest people usually only look a few years ahead to make decisions and consider outcomes, they only look so far out from their starting point, because once you go too deep, emotions cant cover the truth anymore. you realize that strictly, in a material sense, everything you care about will never have existed at the end of time, when either the universe collapses or expands into a thin cloud of barely moving atoms, nothing will have mattered, nothing will be there to remember, nothing to observe. truths like this are what we hide from, the most drastic action you can make in your life is converting organic compounds to airborne carbon, maybe as a result there'll be a little more of that in the cloud.
Its a struggle to think, when we just want to be ignorant, we want to emotionalize and deal with whats right in front of us. one thought at a time, i hurt now, im hungry now, i'm happy now, is all that consumes us, us and now.
When we look at our culture in light of this its not too surprising we thrive off of distraction. music, television, books, any media, any relationship we enjoy is just a guise to entertain our minds for fear we might think. as douglas adams said, : I thought people kept their mouths moving to keep blood flow to the brain, and keep it working, actually i learned people keep moving their mouths because if they stopped they feared their brains might start working"
